FSDRadarOwned-FSD cars mostly come from private sellers and independent dealers, and are usually cars first delivered between 2017 and early 2026 whose first owner paid for FSD. Tesla's own used inventory is a poor place to look: Tesla now sells its used cars with short FSD trials. Search listings for FSD wording and screen photos, then confirm ownership before you pay any premium.
Why these cars are worth hunting for
On February 14, 2026, Tesla ended one-time FSD purchases in the US. The only way to get FSD (Supervised) from Tesla now is a subscription, $99 a month as of September 2026 (Tesla FSD support page). Tesla's last FSD transfer window closed on March 31, 2026 (Electrek). So the number of cars with owned FSD is now fixed, and shrinks as cars are scrapped or have FSD removed.
Tesla's rule for the next owner has not changed: if the previous owner "purchased FSD (Supervised) outright and is not transferring it to a new vehicle, you will receive the vehicle with FSD (Supervised)" (same Tesla page). A used car with owned FSD saves you the monthly fee for as long as you keep it, and the premium sellers ask for it is often modest (see how much FSD is worth).

How to search listings for them
Most marketplaces have no reliable FSD filter, and where they do, it is usually a box the seller ticked. Search the text and the photos:
- Keywords: "FSD", "Full Self-Driving", "Full Self Driving Capability", "FSD purchased", "FSD paid", "FSD included", "FSD transfers", "EAP", "Enhanced Autopilot". Try with and without hyphens.
- Photos: look for a photo of the Software screen. Sellers who own FSD often photograph it. Zoom in for the words "Full Self-Driving Capability" and for any renewal or expiry date.
- Negative signs in the text: "subscription", "trial", "FSD available", "FSD capable", "FSD computer", "FSD hardware" or "FSD ready". "Capable" and "hardware" usually mean the computer is there and the software is not bought.
- Unlabelled cars: many owned-FSD cars are listed without a word about it. A seller photo of the Software screen, or a message asking the seller, is the only way to find those by hand.
A listing that says "FSD" is a lead, not a fact. We have seen listings with FSD ticked in the feature list and "(Subscription)" in the description. Always confirm with the steps in how to tell if a Tesla has FSD.
Which cars are most likely to have it
We do not know of any published figure for what share of Teslas were sold with FSD, so we will not guess one. What we can say from the rules and prices:
- Model years 2017 to 2025 are the main pool. Cars from 2017 to early 2019 were built with older computers and need the HW3 upgrade Tesla offered to FSD buyers, so check the Autopilot computer line (see HW3 vs HW4). Cars delivered after February 14, 2026 could only get owned FSD through the transfer program or an earlier order.
- All four main models (Model S, 3, X and Y) were sold with FSD as an option, and some early Cybertrucks (Foundation Series) and Model Ys (Launch Series) came with it bundled.
- Enhanced Autopilot cars are a separate, cheaper tier. They are worth considering: EAP stays with the car and FSD (Supervised) on top has been reported at $49 a month.
- Cars that received FSD by transfer (2023 to early 2026 deliveries) keep it for the next owner under Tesla's transfer terms.
- 2026 Model S and X come with the Luxe Package. If it was ordered after February 14, 2026, its FSD ends at sale.
A step-by-step buying plan
- Decide what FSD is worth to you. Use the break-even rule: the premium divided by $99 is the number of subscription months it replaces.
- Set your filters: model, budget, and hardware (AI4 if you want the main FSD version, HW3 if price matters more).
- Shortlist cars with FSD wording or a Software-screen photo, and a clean history.
- Message the seller with the questions to ask: purchase or subscription, app screenshot, VIN on the screen, history.
- Check the VIN. Run it through a VIN check (for example ours at /vin) and a history report for title brands, auctions and Tesla ownership.
- See the car and go through the test-drive checklist, including the Software and Additional Vehicle Information screens.
- Get it in writing: "FSD (Supervised) purchased and included" on the bill of sale.
- At handover, add the car to your Tesla account and confirm FSD shows as included before the seller leaves.
Questions buyers ask
Can I buy a used Tesla with FSD from Tesla?
Rarely with owned FSD. Tesla's Certified Pre-Owned cars come with one month of FSD (Supervised), and Tesla has relisted some cars that originally came with FSD with a short trial instead. Private sellers and independent dealers are the usual source of owned FSD.
Is a used Tesla with FSD worth it?
It depends on the premium and how much you will use it. Owned FSD replaces a $99 monthly subscription (US, September 2026), so divide the extra price by $99 to see how many months it takes to pay for itself.
Does FSD stay on the car if I buy from a dealer?
Purchased FSD normally stays with the car through a dealer sale. The risk is higher if the dealer bought the car at a Tesla auction or the car has a salvage history, so confirm it is active on the car and put it on the bill of sale.

Well-priced cars with owned FSD do not sit around. Dealers and other buyers watch the same marketplaces, and some reserve cars within minutes of listing. Buyers who find these cars usually do it by checking many sources often, or by setting alerts.
